Flight Attendant Pleads Guilty to Bomb Scare

Gay Wilson Admits To Interference With Flight Crew, May Spend Next Five Years In Jail

Back in May, 2004, we reported that an off-duty American Airlines flight attendant had been arrested and accused of interfering with a flight crew by leaving a bomb scare note in one of the company's aircraft's lavatories.

Ms. Gay Wilson, who has been incarcerated since the incident took place May 27, 2004, has accepted a plea bargain offered to her by Prosecutor Debra T. Phillips. The agreement was filed on Friday in a federal court in Nashville (TN). Sentencing will take place on May 13, and Wilson may be facing significant jail time, as much as five years.

Wilson boarded the aircraft in Dallas (TX) bound for Boston (MA) when she decided to go to the bathroom. When she returned, she claimed she had found the bomb scare note. The incident took place over Tennessee airspace and the flight was immediately diverted to Nashville International Airport. The aircraft was evacuated and searched, and no explosives were found.

The note, according to court records, read: "There is a bomb on board this flt to Boston in cargo. Live Sadaam!"  The next day, Wilson returned to Dallas and admitted that she had written the note.
