Bearhawk Aircraft tells us that the first flight of a Bearhawk Companion, their side-by-side two-place aircraft, has taken place. The Companion is a utility aircraft, derived from the tandem seated Bearhawk Patrol wings and the 4-Place Bearhawk Model 5 fuselage. A design goal cruise speed of 145 mph has reportedly been met, as well as a payload target of 1,070 lb. The first flight of a Bearhawk Companion was performed by the aircraft's builder, Dave Lenart of Bethel, Vermont. Daher is recognizing Margrit Waltz for her 900th ferry flight, which she achieved this month on a France-U.S. transatlantic trip with one of the company's TBM 940s. As one of the world's most experienced ferry pilots, Waltz departed Daher's Aircraft Division headquarters and TBM production site in Tarbes, France on May 11, arriving three days later at Delaware County Airport near Muncie, Indiana. The milestone journey was completed in a flight time of 15 hours and 38 minutes, involving stopovers at Wick in the UK; Keflavik, Iceland; and Canada's Goose Bay; followed by initial U.S. landings at Bangor, Maine and Scranton in Pennsylvania.

Shortly After The Airplane Passed The Final Approach Fix Inbound, The Engine Lost Power
On April 1, 2021, about 1630 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28-140, N7274F, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Augusta, Kansas. The pilots were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot-in-command reported that he was performing a practice VOR/DME-A instrument approach into Augusta Municipal Airport (3AU) with a safety pilot onboard. Shortly after the airplane passed the final approach fix inbound, the engine lost power.
