Classic Aero-TV: AMA's Chad Budreau - The Spark That Can Rebuild Aviation

From 2017: A new addition to the Aero-TV lineup is the result of a partnership between Aero-News and the Academy of Model Aeronautics…

Chad Budreau, AMA Government Affairs and Public Relations Director, told ANN CEO and Editor in Chief Jim Campbell that the AMA community is the breeding ground of a lot of commercial interests. “A lot of people get their spark for aviation as a hobbyist,” Budreau says. “And that leads into great careers, whether it’s careers in UAS or careers in full-scale aviation.”

Budreau said that the model community has a tremendous safety program and an outstanding safety record that UAS pilots can learn from. “We want to educate not only hobbyists, but those who want to take this into the commercial world.”

The introduction of new technologies is part of the AMA culture, Budreau said. “Who know what the next generation of modeling and aviation in 10 years. But this is what’s happening now, and the FAA will describe it as almost as important as the Wright Brothers,” Budreau said.
