Royal Family Posts Help Wanted Sign For Helicopter Pilot

The Job Of 'Aircraft Captain' Pays North Of $127,000

The British Monarchy has posted an open position on its official website for an "aircraft captain" whose duties would be to fly helicopters for the Queen and other members of the Royal family.

The successful candidate will have "VVIP" experience, according to the job posting. And the pay is pretty good too ... £78,500 which translates to $127,504.

The U.K. newspaper The Telegraph reports that the salary is about twice what Prince William will earn as a helicopter pilot for an air ambulance company later this year. The Duke of Cambridge will be donating his salary to charity.

Besides the Duke of Cambridge, the Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, and Prince Harry are all qualified helicopter pilots.

The job posting for the "aircraft captain" states that candidates “must be willing to undertake regular travel across the UK and overnight as necessary, have a flexible approach and be willing to take on duties and activities outside your normal responsibilities.”

The pilot will fly both a Sikorsky S76 and an AW109S. The position closes September 25.
