Rolls-Royce’s first all-electric aircraft, the “Spirit of Innovation”, has completed its maiden flight, which took place in the UK for about 15 minutes.

The beginning of the flight testing phase includes a collection of performance data on its electrical power and propulsion system. In time, the goal of the aircraft speed is to exceed 300 miles per hour. The current speed record stands at 210 miles per hour. Samad Aerospace, based in the UK, has completed the first test flight of its fully electric Starling aircraft successfully. The Starling aircraft will offer human air transportation to remote locations. It can transport either one passenger or 220lbs of payload at a speed of 120 miles per hour and range of 136 miles. The test flight focused on flight control systems and handling quality of the aircraft during the hover. The Air Force is investigating the emergency landing of a B-2 stealth bomber at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri on September 14th. An Air Force Global Strike Public Affairs unit said the aircraft had to land around 12:30 a.m. after an "in-flight malfunction" during a routine training mission. "There were no personnel injuries and no fire associated with the landing," said Jennifer Greene, a spokeswoman for Air Force Global Strike Public Affairs. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
