Annual GA Activity Survey Enters Round 3

Survey Results Help Determine Infrastructure Funding, Service Needs, Regulatory Impact

The third batch of annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey postcards were mailed this week according to Tetra Tech, a third-party research firm conducting the survey on behalf of the FAA. The GA Survey will report on calendar year 2013 activities and is the only source of information on the GA fleet, including the number of hours flown and the various ways people use general aviation aircraft.

Survey results help determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes, and measure aviation safety. The survey is also used to prepare safety statistics and calculate the rate of accidents among GA aircraft. This includes all types of aircraft, including light-sport, rotorcraft, fixed-wing piston, turboprops, turbojets, gliders, hot-air balloons, amateur-built, experimental, and non-experimental.

Those who receive a postcard are urged to respond even if you did not fly your aircraft during 2013, you sold it, or the aircraft was damaged. A short form is available for owners/operators who receive three or more surveys. Survey responses are confidential. The information will be used only for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that would reveal an individual participant.
