Equipped With EWS, Guns For Use In CSAR And Special Ops
Airbus announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025 that the Kingdom of Morocco has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters for ten of its H225 models. They will be outfitted for combat search and rescue operations by the Royal Moroccan Air Force (Forces royales air) and will replace the existing fleet of Eurocopter Pumas that have been in service for over 40 years.
The Royal Moroccon Air Force helicopters will be equipped with a double hoist system, a searchlight, and a Safran Euroflir 410 electro-optical system. They will also be capable of carrying an Electronic Warfare System and machine guns for self-defense.
Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters said, “We are honoured that Morocco has chosen to replace its legacy Puma fleet with the H225M. This is another step in the partnership we have been building over the decades with the Kingdom of Morocco. The H225M is enjoying a strong momentum on the market. This aircraft is a reference for complex missions in tough environments. This order solidifies the H225M’s reputation as the helicopter of choice for combat search and rescue and special operations across the world.”
The contract also includes a support and service package with connected services.
Airbus has had a presence in Morocco since 1951 through Airbus Atlantic’s subsidiary that specializes in composite manufacturing, assembling complex sub-assemblies, and maintenance and support of avionics equipment.
There are currently more than 360 Airbus H225 and H225M helicopters in services globally that now total nearly 980,000 flight hours. Military customers for those models include France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Iraq, and Kuwait.
