Type Certifications Enable Expansion In East Asian Markets

Embraer announced that its E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft have received type certification from the Mongolia Civil Aviation Authority or MCAA, presenting an opportunity for the aircraft manufacturer to further expand in East Asian markets as Mongolia’s aviation sector grows.

Embraer described the certifications as a ‘milestone’ in promoting further expansion in the region.

The MCAA certifications follow similar approvals by the U.S. FAA, European EASA, Brazilian ANAC, Singapore’s CAAS, and China’s CAAC.

Certification paves the way for more business opportunities as we continue to expand our footprint in Mongolia. Embraer aircraft have been in use in Mongolia since 2018 when Aero Mongolia placed its ERJ 145 into service and then a year later Hunnu Air followed with two E190 aircraft.

IATA, the International Air Transport Association, reported that in 2023 the aviation industry contributed $1 billion, about 5% to Mongolia’s GDP while supporting 41,000 jobs. Mongolian international travel is primarily to the Asia Pacific region, with Europe second and North America third.
