Man Ousted From Flight Loses Suit Against Airline

British Airways Has A No-B.O. Policy

Here's a story that, well, truly stinks. A German man who was taken off a British Airways flight earlier this year has lost his lawsuit against the airline.

A passenger on the flight out of Honolulu complained about the man's smell to the crew... who then requested the man change his shirt before takeoff. But his luggage was in the plane's baggage hold... so in the end, both he and his luggage were left in Hawaii.

Germany's Der Spiegel reports the man claimed he became overheated while dragging three suitcases around the Honolulu airport. The man had asked for $2,800 in damages from British Airways... saying his time was wasted, and that he had to pay for another flight home to Dusseldorf.

According to media reports, however, the man hadn't read the disclaimers on his ticket. If he had, the man would have seen where British Airways states it does not carry passengers who "have extreme body odor."

"Personal freedom has to come to an end when it limits the freedom of others," Martina Griebel, lawyer for British Airways, said. "This is certainly the case with strong body odor."

Which goes to show... always read the fine print. Oh, and deodorant helps, too.
