AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-22-14

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule

SUMMARY:  This AD was prompted by the results of a structural analysis, which identified that the upper frame fittings (UFFs) of the forward cargo door surrounding structure have a low fatigue life.

This AD requires repetitive inspections of the forward cargo door UFFs and brackets for discrepancies and, depending on the findings, doing applicable corrective actions, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 13 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Required Actions - 40 work-hours × $85 per hour = $3,400 per airplane.

Estimated Costs of On-Condition Actions:

  • Labor - Up to 132 work-hours × $85 per hour = Up to $11,220.
  • Parts - Up to $6,940.
  • Cost per aircraft - Up to $18,160.
