Covers Program Commonalities Between C919 And CSeries Aircraft

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd (COMAC) and Bombardier Inc. say they have successfully completed Phase I of the the definitive agreement signed on March 21, 2012, covering program commonalities between the C919 and CSeries aircraft, and the launch of the second phase.

As part of the first phase of COMAC and Bombardier's long-term collaboration, the two aircraft manufacturers have achieved mutually beneficial outcomes in terms of product development and customer operating cost efficiencies for the C919 and the CSeries families of commercial airliners with regard to the cockpit human-machine (crew) interfaces, the electrical system, the development of aluminum-lithium standards and specifications, and technical publications.

In addition, COMAC and Bombardier Inc. on Monday signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) signalling the beginning of Phase II of their strategic collaboration. As such, the second phase of their cooperation will explore further possibilities for C919 and CSeries aircraft commonalities, marketing and sales cooperation, expanded joint customer service capabilities, collaboration on product testing and certification, as well as opportunities for collaboration on future COMAC and Bombardier product lines.

By signing this LOI, Bombardier and COMAC are deepening their commitment to create complementary opportunities for customers of the C919 and the CSeries commercial airliners to realize cost benefits from the operation of both aircraft families.
