Arizona Sheriff Will Have To Wait For Donated R44

County Board Of Supervisors Pulled Contract From Meeting Agenda

The Yavapai County, AZ Sheriff's Office will have to wait a while longer to see if it will be able to accept a donated Robinson R44 after a contract to refurbish the aircraft was pulled from a county Board of Supervisors agenda.

The contract with Prescott Wing and Rotor LLC, which would perform a $250,000 overhaul on the aircraft, was reportedly pulled at the request of the company's lawyers, who said they wanted to "finalize" language in the document.

The helo was donated by Guidance Helicopters of Prescott, AZ, according to a report in the Daily Courier. Prescott Wing and Rotor is a sister company to the one making the donation.

The sheriff's office had also applied for a  $100,000 grant and plans to use $150,000 in money seized in drug operations to refurbish the aircraft.

The supervisors had earlier approved the acquisition of the R44 in a unanimous vote, but the YCSO will now have to wait until at least March 7th to see if the deal can be finalized.
