It's ON!!! Drone Racing Scheduled for 2025 World Games

Prep For The Next Event Is Already Underway, Including The Selection Of 32 Drone Pilots

Our friends at the Fédération Aéronautique International (FAI) have confirmed that drone racing will be featured at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.

The event is scheduled for right after Oshkosh 2025, on August 7-17, 2025. The FAI notes that this follows the earlier debut of drone racing at the 2022 games in Birmingham, Alabama.

Although the venue is currently unknown, the FAI stated that preparations for the next event are already underway, including the selection of 32 drone pilots.

“Given the widespread appeal of this sport among youngsters, the FAI anticipates a significant presence of junior competitors, which has been consistent with recent FAI World Drone Racing Championships. Pilots will hail from all corners of the globe, representing both male and female racers,” the release stated.

“FAI has been involved with the World Games since 1997. The upcoming event in Chengdu will mark the 12th edition of the World Games and the third time an Asian city has hosted the event since its inception in 1981.”

AMA tells us that their members, Evan Turner and Ryan Lindsay Lessard, participated in the 2022 Birmingham World Games.
