Will That Be Children, Or No Children

Malaysia Airlines Plans To Ban Kids From An Entire Floor Of Its A380s

It used to be "smoking or non," but a new policy in the works by Malaysia Airlines would ban children from one entire floor of the A380s it has on order, with the first delivery scheduled in July.

Malaysia Airlines says it will not allow kids 12 and under in the economy seats on the upper deck of the airplane, according to a report appearing in Australian Business Traveler. The policy was issued as an advisory to travel agents.

The no-children section of the A380 will be about 70 economy class seats on the upper level. Most airlines configure the superjumbo with first class on the lower level, where Malaysia Airlines had already said it will not allow babies to fly. That policy is reportedly the result of multiple complaints from first class passengers who said crying children prevented them from sleeping.

The airline reportedly faced heavy criticism from the public when they implemented their child-free first class cabin policy, but has not backed down. They're expecting similar backlash about a similar ban in coach for at least part of the airplane.
