Riverside, OH Joins The Growing Ranks Of Cities And States To Recognize GA

Releases Resolution Proclaiming the Value of General Aviation

The city of Riverside, OH has declared November, 2010 to be "General Aviation Appreciation Month" in a resolution passed by the City Council. The resolution states that general aviation is a "strategic resource for the community" and plays a critical role in the lives of the residents of Riverside, which is just northeast of Dayton. The National Aviation Hall of Fame, located in Riverside, is a landmark for the impact the aviation industry has on not only the state of Ohio, but the entire nation.

Riverside, OH Deputy Mayor Edward W. Schock stated, "The City of Riverside is very fortunate to be the gateway to the National Museum of the United States Air Force, which is the home of the National Aviation Hall of Fame.  By introducing this resolution to the City Council, I wanted to portray the importance of aviation across America, this would be done by declaring the month of November 'General Aviation Appreciation Month.' This is our effort to support airports and aero-clubs in America."

In a news release Monday, the Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA) praised the move. "We applaud the city of Riverside for their efforts in recognizing this vital industry," said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. "Riverside illustrates the vast impact general aviation has on towns and communities across Ohio. General aviation in Ohio alone contributes $5.56 billion to the state's economy and puts over 17,000 Ohioans to work. The City of Riverside's proclamation is a shining example of a community that realizes the value of this industry and we applaud their efforts in highlighting the impact of this vital industry."
