BOC Aviation Selects Rockwell Collins’ MultiScan ThreatTrack Radar, MMR, TCAS II

Will Be Installed In New 737 Aircraft

BOC Aviation will feature Rockwell Collins’ advanced avionics, including MultiScan ThreatTrack weather radar, GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), and Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance (TCAS II) traffic computer TTR-2100 as baseline configurations on Next-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft that begin delivery later this year.

“This comprehensive suite of our proven avionics systems will enable BOC Aviation’s clients to fly with greater confidence, especially in inclement weather and high-traffic areas,” said Jim Walker, vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific for Rockwell Collins. “We look forward to continuing our strong, trusted relationship with one of the world’s premier aircraft leasing companies.”

MultiScan ThreatTrack goes beyond hail and lightning prediction within a thunderstorm cell and alerts pilots to these significant threats adjacent to or above the cell. In addition, the new radar is the first in the industry to feature two levels of turbulence detection—severe and ride quality—which more accurately informs flight crews of the type of turbulence in their path.

Unique to MultiScan ThreatTrack is its patented Predictive Overflight Protection, which tracks thunderstorm cells ahead of and below the aircraft, measures growth rate, predicts bow-wave turbulence and indicates potential threats in the aircraft’s flight path.

Rockwell Collins’ TTR-2100 reliably enables TCAS II operations and future ADS-B In applications using a common traffic computer architecture, which reduces weight and enables more capabilities compared to previous-generation systems.

In addition to ThreatTrack, MMR and TCAS II, BOC Aviation selected Rockwell Collins’ ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-2100 Distance Measuring Equipment, VHF-2100 Transceiver, HFS-900D Radio, TPR-901 Mode S Transponder, and VOR-900 Omnidirectional Radio.
