Bag From Missing Airplane Found On Curacao

Aircraft That Went Down Was Carrying U.S. Fashion House Director

A suitcase that had been placed on an airplane carrying the director of the U.S. Missoni Fashion House and his wife has been found on the beach in Curacao.

The plane with Vittorio Missoni and his wife aboard went missing January 4th on a flight from the Caribbean archipelago of Los Roques to Caracas. Four others were also on board the plane. Los Roques is just over 100 miles off the coast of Caracas, and is described as the larges marine park in the Caribbean.

Missoni runs the fashion house with his siblings, Luca and Angela, according to a report appearing on CNN. The bag that was found did not belong to anyone on the plane. It was placed on the plane that went missing because it was too heavy for the aircraft on which its owner was a passenger. That aircraft departed Los Roques minutes before the plane with the Missonis on board. It was found by a German tourist on Curacao, which is about 124 miles from the Los Roques.

The family said in an official statement that it is aware of the news, but that nothing can be concluded from the fact that the bag was found. The search for the missing plane is reportedly ongoing.
