Gulfstream Receives STC For Starlink Installations

Satellite Connectivity Now Available On G650 And G650ER Models

Gulfstream Aerospace announced it has received FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) to install the Starlink high-speed satellite internet system onboard its G650 and G650ER model business jets.

The STC approval lets customers work directly with Gulfstream rather than third-party installers to upgrade their connectivity. Starlink provides passengers with a variety of inflight, simultaneous capabilities such as video calls, streaming services, internet access, data transfer, and cloud-based services. The latency of Starlink is less than 99 milliseconds with download speeds of 40-220 Mbps.

Derek Zimmerman, President of Gulfstream Customer Support said, “Starlink is an offering that we know is important to operators. Our team has invested extensive time and resources preparing for this certification, and we are well-positioned across our service network to provide a seamless installation. Having the capability to install this connectivity upgrade at our own facilities, in the hands of our trusted team of experts, is part of our ongoing commitment to our customers.”

Gulfstream is developing similar STCs for its G800, G700, G600, G500, G400, G280, GIV, GIV-X, GV, and GV-SP aircraft.

Starlink uses its own Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites which comprise the first and largest constellation of broadband internet satellites in use. Starlink is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of SpaceX, which also launched the Starlink satellites.
