Embraer, CAE Formalize Joint Venture For Phenom Pilot Training

Will Also Provide Two Full-Motion Sims

Embraer and CAE announced this week the two companies recently formalized and signed a joint venture agreement to provide pilot and ground crew training to Embraer customers of the Phenom 100 very light and Phenom 300 light jets. The new company has been named Embraer CAE Training Services, LLC (ECTS).

Under the terms of agreement, the joint venture will provide initial and recurrent training for pilots and maintenance technicians. The initial training program for the Embraer Phenom family is on schedule to begin at CAE SimuFlite in Dallas, TX, in the third quarter of 2008, and at CAE’s Burgess Hill training center in the United Kingdom in the first quarter of 2009.

"CAE's training expertise, combined with Embraer's product knowledge, will provide our Phenom customers the best training solution in the market," said Simon Newitt, Embraer's Director, Customer Training. "We believe that the Phenom training program will set the bar for training within the very light and light jet markets."

CAE and Embraer will work together to set instructor and courseware requirements. To support the Phenom program, CAE has agreed to manufacture two Phenom full-flight simulators for deployment at CAE SimuFlite in Dallas, TX and the CAE's Burgess Hill training center in the UK. In addition, CAE will also combine CAE Simfinity technology and devices into the Phenom training program.

"CAE has been providing integrated training solutions for Embraer aircraft for close to 10 years," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services. "We look forward to jointly providing these customized, high-quality training programs for customers of Embraer's innovative very light and light jet aircraft."

The Phenom 100 will carry up to eight people and is capable of flying at 41,000 feet. It is expected to enter service in mid-2008 and is priced at US$ 2.98 million, based on January 2005 economic conditions. The Phenom 300 will accommodate up to nine people and is capable of flying at 45,000 feet. It is expected to enter service in mid-2009 and is priced at US$ 6.65 million, based on January 2005 economic conditions.

The partners are working on extending their relationship to include pilot training for the Embraer 170/190 family of E-Jets and the Lineage 1000 executive jet, in support of Embraer's customers throughout the Americas.
