BRS Aerospace recently completed the installation of its custom ballistic whole aircraft parachute in the historic Perlan 2 experimental space glider as part of preparations for the 2018 season of Airbus Perlan Mission II.
Last September, the Perlan 2 sailplane accomplished a record-setting powerless flight to 52,000 feet over the Andes. Later this year, the Airbus Perlan Mission II all-volunteer team will be attempting to soar the aircraft to over 90,000 feet to set a new world record for winged aircraft in sustained flight. Bell Helicopter has announced the delivery of two Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopters to Asian Aviation Resources Pte. Ltd. in Cambodia. One of the helicopters, which will be operated by Helicopters Cambodia, will be used to facilitate the United States Department of Defense’s POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in their efforts to find missing U.S. military personnel in Southeast Asia. The other helicopter will be used for tourism related charters. A retired pilot who flew for Alaska Airlines has pleaded guilty to a charge of operating an airliner while under the influence of alcohol. David Hans Arnston has admitted to flying from San Diego, CA to Portland, OR on June 20, 2014, and then returning
to San Diego. On landing at John Wayne Airport in California, he was selected for a random drug and alcohol test by the airline. He submitted to two Breathalyzer tests, and both came back "well above the federal limit of 0.04 for pilots." All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
