ICAO Secretary General To Keynote ABACE2016

Dr. Fang Liu Will Speak April 12th In Shanghai

The NBAA is pleased to announce that Dr. Fang Liu, secretary general of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), has accepted an invitation to serve as a keynote speaker for the 2016 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE2016), April 12 in Shanghai, China.

The first woman to be appointed to the position of ICAO secretary general, Liu came to ICAO following a 20-year career with the Civil Aviation Administration of China,  where she was responsible for China's international air transport policy, regulations and the country's bilateral and multilateral relations with international and regional organizations including ICAO, the World Trade Organization, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, the European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

"We are honored to have Dr. Liu speak at ABACE2016,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “In addition to listening to her valuable perspectives regarding matters affecting the global aviation community, Dr. Liu’s extensive knowledge about the evolving role of civil aviation across China and the broader Asian community will also provide ABACE attendees with important insights on the emerging role of business aviation in the region.”

Prior to her appointment as ICAO secretary general, Liu served for eight years as the director of ICAO's Bureau of Administration and Services. She earned a doctorate in international law at China’s Wuhan University and a master’s degree in air and space law at Leiden University in the Netherlands.  Liu also serves as director of the Association of Air Law of China and the Association of Private International Law of China.

Taking place April 12 to 14 at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, ABACE2016 is the largest event dedicated to showcasing business aviation to thousands of the top business leaders and entrepreneurs across China and the Asia-Pacific region.

More than 200 aviation financiers, manufacturers, service providers, legal specialists and others will be on hand at ABACE2016, which also will feature the latest aircraft, products and services available to support business aviation in the region. ABACE2016 is held in partnership with SAA, and co-hosted by NBAA and the Asian Business Aviation Association.
