Aspen Avionics Joins GAMA, Hires SE Sales Manager

"Young Company" Growing Rapidly

Aspen Avionics tells ANN it recently joined the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), and the board of directors of GAMA has approved the membership.

"We recognize the importance of supporting and participating in industry trade groups," said Aspen Avionics President John Uczekaj. "We are honored by our acceptance into an organization as prestigious as GAMA, and feel that this is an important step in establishing Aspen Avionics as an integral part of the general aviation industry."

"Although we are a young company, we are staffed with people whose industry experience and expertise will be available for GAMA committees and projects, and we look forward to participating in that process to do our share for the good of the entire industry, Uczekaj continued.

The avionics manufacturer -- which, as ANN reported, launched its Evolution Flight Display system (shown below) for certified GA aircraft at AirVenture 2007 --  also announced Scott R. Smith has joined the company as the Southeast Area Sales Manager.

In this position, Smith will be responsible for sales of the Evolution system, and help to establish both a dealer network and customer care programs for Evolution and other company products in his region. Smith was most recently a regional sales manager for Garmin International where he successfully managed his sales territory, conducted more than 200 seminars for pilots and aircraft owners as well as provided many media demonstration flights of Garmin products.

"Scott's experience is invaluable to us. His experience working with dealers, demonstrating products to potential customers as well as his vast experience as a sales manager and a pilot make him ideally suited to join Aspen Avionics," said Uczekaj. "We are building a world-class sales team, and Scott is the newest addition."

Smith earned a degree in business administration from the College of the Ozarks. He is a commercial pilot and flight instructor with approximately 3000 hours of flying time, including more than 200 hours in tailwheel aircraft.
