Critical Subsystem Mods Extend Service Life Of Legacy Eagles

The Boeing Government Services Team in New Orleans, Louisiana, announced the successful completion of a four-year program to upgrade 37 U.S. Air Force F-15C Eagle fighter jets that will extend the service life of the aircraft into the 2030s.

The 30-member team consisting of mostly military vets, performed the work at the Louisiana Air National Guard Base. Each installation required approximately 62 days per jet, and integrated cutting-edge systems designed to strengthen both performance and secure communications.

The upgrades included the ADCP-II, or Advanced Display Core Processor II, that bolsters the aircraft’s mission computing power, and the MIDS-JTRS, or Multi-Function Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio System that provides advanced, secure and resilient comms capabilities.

Ryan Hudson, the F-15 modification manager said, “The dedication of our mostly veteran team, coupled with advanced computing technology, ensures the F-15C aircraft remains relevant well into the 2030s until the F-15C is divested from the United States Air Force inventory. This project exemplifies the power of partnership and sets the stage for future capabilities and innovation. “

The upgrades provide the aircraft – now with nearly 50 years in service – the technological capability necessary for the F-15C to meet the demands of modern warfare and to maintain superiority on the battlefield. Modernization efforts such as this are vital to sustainment of fleet readiness and combat effectiveness for legacy aircraft.
