Approval Allows Aircraft Owners To Clean Up Their Panel With The Latest Aspen Glass

Aspen Avionics has confirmed that the FAA has approved changes to the backup instrument requirements with the installation of Aspen’s Evolution EFD1000 Pro MAX PFD. The approval allows aircraft owners to remove the attitude indicator when installing a single Evolution EFD1000 Pro MAX PFD with the latest released software (v2.11) and the new extended duration battery. A turn and bank indicator along with airspeed and altimeter must be retained as the three required backups.

Companies Join Forces To Address Safety Issues For eVTOL Aircraft

Aviation Safety Resources announced a strategic alliance agreement with Advanced Blast and Ballistic Systems (advanced-blast.com). The agreement launches a joint effort to further develop the next generation of AEPRS and reduce the costs which both ABBS and ASR would otherwise have to invest independently. ASR will benefit from the in-depth knowledge and world-leading rocket and initiation systems expertise within the extended ABBS operation, which has been developed by previous work on rocket motors used in armored vehicle mine protection systems. The Coast Guard medevaced a man from motor vessel CL Yingdu, approximately 223 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras on Saturday. Watchstanders from the U.S. Coast Guard Fifth District command center received notification that a man aboard the vessel was suffering from an eye injury and needed medical attention. The command center consulted with a U.S. Coast Guard flight surgeon who recommended medical evacuation. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and an HC-130 Hercules aircraft from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City were dispatched.

Ahead of an upcoming open application window to become an air traffic control specialist, the Department of Transportation's FAA has launched a week-long campaign to encourage more applications from women, minorities, and individuals from underrepresented communities. The campaign will feature current air traffic controllers and FAA leaders sharing their stories in media interviews, on social media, during Instagram Live conversations, and on other platforms. The FAA will also engage with diverse organizations to get the word out and has created a digital toolkit for groups to use.

On July 1, 2021, about 1920 central daylight time, a Piper Aerostar 600, N10HK, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Wichita, Kansas. The commercial pilot sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. AD 2021-14-04 Requires Replacement Of Certain ANCRA Seat Tracks With Certified (Brownline) Seat Tracks

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Dassault Aviation Model FALCON 7X airplanes and Model FALCON 2000EX airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report that non-certified ANCRA seat tracks were installed on some airplanes and that those seat tracks might not sustain required loads during an emergency landing. This AD requires replacement of certain ANCRA seat tracks with certified (Brownline) seat tracks, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective August 26, 2021.

Ground Controlled Approach A radar approach system operated from the ground by air traffic control personnel transmitting instructions to the pilot by radio. The approach may be conducted with surveillance radar (ASR) only or with both surveillance and precision approach radar (PAR). Usage of the term “GCA” by pilots is discouraged except when referring to a GCA facility. Pilots should specifically request a “PAR” approach when a precision radar approach is desired or request an “ASR” or “surveillance” approach when a nonprecision radar approach is desired.
