Blue Origin successfully completed the 13th New Shepard mission to space and back, and the 7th consecutive flight for this particular vehicle, a record. There were 12 payloads onboard including the Deorbit, Descent, and Landing Sensor Demonstration under the NASA Tipping Point partnership. The lunar landing sensor demo was the first payload to be mounted on the exterior of a New Shepard booster and tested technology designed to achieve high accuracy landing. International cooperation on and around the Moon as part of the Artemis program is taking a step forward today with the signing of the Artemis Accords between NASA and several partner countries. UAVOS, Inc. has performed a series of successful flight trials with High Altitude Pseudo Satellite (HAPS) ApusDuo testing the unique control system. Test flights for the ApusDuo programme confirmed that UAVOS’s type of control allows aircraft with a large wing elongation to fly in unstable atmospheric conditions. The Coast Guard has been conducting critical incident search and rescue overflights since the weekend along the Western Gulf Coast Region for Hurricane Delta post-storm operations. Hurricane Delta, one of a number of unexpected storms this year, turned out to be a fairly damging system. A Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew conducted overflights near Lake Charles to assess damage and identify hazards. At one point, Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander Coast Guard 8th District, was aboard an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane to conduct assessment operations of areas that may have been damaged by Hurricane Delta.

On September 22, 2020, about 1830 mountain daylight time, an Air Tractor AT-802A, N836MM, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Emmett, Idaho. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 aerial firefighting flight. AD 2020-21-13 Prompted By The Detection Of Melt-Related Freckles In The Billet

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain General Electric Company (GE) GE90-110B1 and GE90-115B model turbofan engines. This AD was prompted by the detection of melt-related freckles in the billet, which may reduce the life limits of certain highpressure turbine (HPT) rotor stage 2 disks and certain rotating compressor discharge pressure (CDP) HPT seals. This AD requires the replacement of the affected HPT rotor stage 2 disks and rotating CDP HPT seals. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective November 17, 2020.
