EHang holdings announced that one of the bigger Japanese air mobility companies, AirX, has placed a pre-order for 50 units of their EH216 AAV, making it the biggest order ever received in-country. A China Airlines 747-400F made a show out of its taxiing this week, as the Flight CI5240 appeared to cut a corner a little too wide, passing its left wing over and through a number of waiting baggage carts. The plane's engine number 1 sucked in a cart, and the left side of the aircraft was damaged. Engines 1 and 2, the gear door, and the engine cowling all came out the other side of the turn worse for wear. The Chicago O'Hare had received more than 3 inches of snow on the night of the incident, with some portions of Illinois seeing more than 10 inches total.

On January 8, 2022, about 1919 central standard time, a Beech B58, N585CK, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Defiance, Missouri. The two commercial pilots sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 positioning flight. U.S. Drone Soccer has recently been recognized as an Academy of Model Aeronautics Special Interest Group. This SIG geared towards youth education and activity, beginning with the initial tournaments in Colorado, New York and Ohio. The league is hoped to bring youth into the world of aerospace, STEM, and model aeronautics. Drone Soccer is played by teams of equal size, from 3v3 to 5v5. The Coast Guard medevaced an injured crew member Monday from a fishing vessel near St. Paul, Alaska. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched out of Forward Operating Location Cold Bay and hoisted the man from the 169-foot fishing vessel Constellation at about 9:30 a.m., just outside St. Paul Harbor. The Coast Guard placed the man in the care of St. Paul Health Center staff, who later transferred him to a Guardian Flight aircraft crew that flew him to Anchorage for further care.

The U.S. Air Force has announced a milestone in the development of its new F-15EX Eagle II after a test aircraft fired an AIM-120D missile in a range over the Gulf of Mexico. The new Eagle II will replace the USAF's aging, increasingly tired F-15C and /Ds purchased through the decades. The new Eagle II has been referred to as a "missile truck", a concept that see the fighter carry ordnance into combat as a launch platform reliant upon stealthier, more advanced fighters like the F-35 Lightning II to penetrate hostile airspace and provide targeting guidance.
