AMA Embarks on Drone Soccer Tourney

Academy of Model Aeronautics Publicizes US Drone Soccer Partnership

The Academy of Model Aeronautics reiterated a partnership it's held iwth the US Drone Soccer program, drawing additional attention to the group's STEM-focused educational opportunities.

The AMA boosted a statement from USDS announcing preparations for the first District Championships next month, marking off a big milestone in the fledgling activity organization.

“Students from across the country are competing in their District Qualifiers in preparation for the District Championships in March," said the United States Drone Soccer release. "The first and second place teams in the District tournaments will be invited to participate in the 2024 Drone Soccer National Championship weekend, with the winning team becoming the US National team at the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) 2024 Drone Soccer World Cup held the following day. All roads lead to Northern Virginia April 25-28, hosted by Virginia Tech in Springfield, Virginia.”

The AMA added that the Americans already have something to be proud of, as the winners of the recent FAI F9A Drone Soccer Open International World Cup Qualifier hailed from Long Beach, California's Sato Academy. The US National Team took 1st and 2nd place.
