Central Asian Carriers Commit To Acquire Up To 37 Aircraft

President Donald Trump provided Boeing the opportunity to book orders from three Central Asian airlines at the C5+1 diplomatic summit in Washington, D.C., attended by leaders from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

After the discussions concluded, Boeing announced they had entered formalized agreements with Air Astana, Uzbekistan Airways, and Somon Air for a cumulative 37 aircraft comprising a mix of 27 787 Dreamliner widebodies and 10 737 MAX single-aisle jets.

Air Astana, Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, agreed to purchase up to 15 Dreamliners, its largest-ever order commitment. In addition to this order, the airline is awaiting delivery of three more Dreamliners via lessors.

Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana said, “Air Astana is strategically committed to boosting its service capabilities from Central Asia / Caucasus to Asia, Europe and the rest of the world over the next decade, with the arrival of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner next year marking the start of this exciting phase of development.”

Air Astana currently operates three 767 widebody aircraft that connect Kazakhstan with destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Somon Air, the national airline of Tajikistan, committed to place its largest-ever order for up to four Dreamliners and 10 737 MAX-8 aircraft.

Uzbekistan Airways converted options from a previous September 2025 agreement into a firm order for eight 787 Dreamliners, increasing its total order for the widebodies to 22. It is the only Central Asian airline flying the 787 Dreamliners and has been doing so successfully for nearly a decade.
