Sir, Please Step Away From The Helicopter

Man Ticketed For Landing Helo In His Own Back Yard

John Kjekstad just didn't want to deal with the traffic on the Merritt Parkway. Unlike a lot of us who dread the commute home from work each day, Kjekstad was in a position to do something about it.

As co-owner of Helicopter Flight Services, he was piloting himself to his home base at Teterboro when he looked down, saw bumper-to-bumper traffic on the parkway and decided he'd pass on that particular delight.

So, he landed his helicopter in his own backyard in New Canaan (CT). And was promptly handed a $75 ticket after his neighbor complained to police, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The 42-year old Kjekstad, who also co-owns Private Jets, Inc., said he doesn't usually land his helicopter in his own backyard. That's probably a relief to his neighbors...
