Aero-TV: DeltaHawk’s Diesel Program - Approaching Certification and Production

DeltaHawk Flies Cirrus SR20 To AirVenture 2019 With The Engine Installed

DeltaHawk is nearing certification of its Diesel engine, with flight testing well underway. The company flew a Cirrus SR20 to AirVenture 2019 to the show, and had it on display at its booth.

DeltaHawk vice president of Marketing and Certification Dennis Webb told Aero-TV that the engine is ready to "take off", and that they have passed several FAA milestones, internally, that are awaiting validation by the agency. The company is getting production plans finalized, and doing the reams of paperwork required by the FAA.

DeltaHawk reimagined power for general aviation in a simple design. There’s no gear box. No valves or valve train. No complex electronics or myriads of sensors. The engine is simple to maintain with externally-mounted pumps and other components that make maintenance much easier. The engine is both supercharged and turbocharged for extraordinary power. Unlike traditional engines with scorching hot EGTs which contribute to turbocharger failures and high maintenance costs, DeltaHawk engines deliver power at relatively cool temperatures.

The company expects to be in production of the jet-fuel-powered engine in 2020, and was taking orders at AirVenture 2019.
