Yeager Airport Reopens After Emergency Repaving

Pavement Issue Identified About 2,200 Feet From The End Of The Runway

Yeager Airport (KCRW) in Charleston, WV was forced to close for about two hours Monday for emergency paving work.

The runway was closed for approximately 2 hours while West Virginia Paving worked diligently to repair the runway. “We were fortunate to have West Virginia Paving on site, and we’re thankful to them and the West Virginia Air National Guard for their help in getting the runway reopened quickly,” said Airport Director, Terry Sayre.

The issue was with Runway 5/23. Repairs were needed about 2,200 feet from one end of the 6,700-foot runway. The reason for the need for emergency repaving was not specified.

Passengers should contact their airline directly to rebook flights impacted by the runway repair closure, airport officials said in a news release.
