FAA Issues SAIB For Cessna Radome Fuselage Fairings

Applies To Bizjets Modified Under Sierra Industries STC

The FAA has issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) advising owners and operators of certain Cessna Aircraft Company Model 500, 550, S550, 552 and 560 airplanes modified by Sierra Industries, Ltd. STC SA8437SW and Cessna Aircraft Company Model 501 and 551 airplanes modified by Sierra Industries, Ltd. STC SA8458SW (Type Certificate Data Sheets A22CE and A27CE, respectively) of an airworthiness concern regarding radome latch covers.

The FAA has received information of the possibility of defective radome latch covers due to moisture entering the radome area on the subject airplanes. Sierra Industries, Ltd. has issued Service Bulletin SB-SI160-100, dated October 29, 2013. The service information provides procedures for replacing any left- and right-hand radome latch covers having part number (PN) SI160-110-9, with new radome latch covers having P/N SI160-110-14. This replacement will prevent the chance of moisture entering the radome area.

The FAA recommends complying with the actions outlined in Sierra Industries, Ltd Service Bulletin SB-SI160-100, dated October 29, 2013, at the next scheduled maintenance check.
