Visit Diamond Aircraft (and
See The SVT Equipped DA40-XLS and D-Jet)
At AOPA Expo Booth 335 and Static Display
Area
We can hardly believe
our good fortune in the support given ANN from one of the most
respected GA airplane builders in the world... Diamond Aircraft.
Heck... we're just amazed that they can find the time to even let
us know that they're willing to do so... especially in light of all
the things that are happening in the world of Diamond Aircraft.

Since 1981 Diamond Aircraft has designed and built more certified
composite aircraft than any other GA manufacturer. In the past 27
years, Diamond has grown into an international company with over
1,000,000 square feet of production facilities and more than 1,400
employees on three continents.

As Aero-News has reported, recent big news
concerns the unveiling of Garmin Synthetic Vision
Technology (SVT) for new DA40 Diamond Stars. Garmin’s SVT
presents a 3D depiction of terrain, obstacles and traffic on the
G1000’s primary flight display (PFD) so that the avionics
panel replicates what pilots would see outside the cockpit on a
clear day.

In the past year or so, Diamond has accomplished
the following (in addition to the Spring announcement of the Garmin
SVT system for the DA40-XLS):
-
Diamond Flight Center program launched.
-
DA50 Super Star, the first five-seat, modern
composite aircraft powered by a FADEC controlled 350 hp
turbo-charged engine, makes first flight.
-
First flight of Mercedes / AE 170-hp diesel
engine in DA40.
-
First flight of D-JET serial number 002,
type-conforming aircraft.

ANN is proud to have friends like Diamond Aircraft
to help us bring you coverage of the 2008 AOPA Expo. Each Diamond
Aircraft is a testimony to efficiency in design. Not a line is
wasted; not a curve is out of place. From the elegant DA20, and its
roots in gliders... to the larger DA40 four-place birds... and the
gorgeous, Thielert diesel-powered DA42, the bigger/faster DA50, and
(not to mention... ) the D-Jet, these planes live up to their
'Diamond' moniker.
Things You REALLY Should Know About
Diamond Aircraft!
- Diamond Aircraft is a general aviation technology leader, as
the launch partner for the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit technology,
as the first to offer certified production aircraft utilizing
diesel powerplants, and as the first to offer a certified,
single-engine Personal Light Jet.
- The Diamond fleet, with more than two million hours flown since
1995, has the best safety record in general aviation. This safety
record is a testament to Diamond’s Total Safety Concept,
which combines Active Safety, Passive Safety, and a continuous
safety development process.
- Diamond Aircraft is the only general aviation manufacturer to
offer a full fleet of modern, composite, two seat, four seat,
single, twin and jet engine aircraft, as well as high-fidelity
flight training devices up to Level 5/6 for these aircraft. This
fleet offer makes Diamond the ideal choice for flight training
providers, from local flight schools to accredited institutions, as
well as for pilots looking for a seamless upgrade path from their
first aircraft all the way to a Personal Light Jet.
- All United States Air Force pilot trainees learn to fly on
Diamond DA20-C1 aircraft as part of the USAF’s initial
screening program operated by Doss Aviation. Other well-known fleet
customers include, among others, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
University, University of North Dakota, Middle Tennessee State
University, Moncton Flight College/CANLINK, ATP and Sabena Airline
Training Center. Overall, approximately 300 Diamond aircraft have
been put into service in major flight training institutions in the
past 2 years.
- Diamond Aircraft offers Diamond-specific Flight Training
Devices for the DA40, DA42 and D-JET aircraft. Visit www.diamond-simulation.com
for more information.
- Did you know that Diamond has over twenty years experience
producing certified composite aircraft?
- Did you know that Diamond Aircraft employs over 1400 people
worldwide?
- Did you know that a Diamond DA42-tdi Twin Star crossed the
Atlantic non-stop (a distance of over 1900 nm), in 12.5 hrs,
burning a total of only 72 gallons of jet fuel?
- Did you know that Diamond is the only general aviation
manufacturer to offer two seat, four seat, single, twin and jet
engine aircraft?
- Did you know that the Diamond DA40's low drag airframe offers
over 30% fuel savings when compared to traditional 180 hp 4 seat
airplanes, flown at the same speed?
- Did you know that the Diamond DA40XLS will outperform other 180
- 200 hp aircraft in speed, climb and runway performance, at higher
density altitudes?
- Did you know that the Diamond DA42 offers comparable
performance and costs to high performance singles, while offering
the safety of a second engine and known ice certification?
