Upgraded Orion Delivered To Customs And Border Protection Service

Aircraft Support Homeland Security And Drug Interdiction Efforts

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection service has taken delivery of an upgraded P-3 Orion aircraft 94 days ahead of schedule from the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Greenville team. The delivery allows for a quicker return of the aircraft to the CBP P-3 fleet supporting homeland security and drug interdiction missions.

This is the ninth of 14 aircraft in the program to receive Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) modifications and phased depot maintenance. The MLU solution removes current aircraft flight restrictions and extends the structural service life of the P-3 up to 15,000 hours, adding more than 20 years of operational use, greatly reducing the cost of ownership for P-3 operators.

“This exemplary milestone reflects Lockheed Martin’s commitment to our customers with an emphasis on quality and schedule while showcasing the dedication of the entire P-3 enterprise team,” said Ray Burick, Lockheed Martin vice president for the Greenville Site and Field Team Operations.
