CAAC Validates Superior Air Parts Vantage Engine FAA Type Certificate

Texas Company Looks To Expand Into Growing Chinese Market

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has granted validation of Superior Air Part's FAA Type Certificate for its Vantage Engine. “The CAAC approval now clears the way for our engine build facility here in Coppell, Texas, to manufacturer Vantage Engines for sale in emerging Chinese markets,” explained Timothy T. Archer, Group CEO, Superior Air Parts. “There are growing opportunities to provide piston engines for a variety of aircraft being developed in China.”

Archer added that Superior Air Parts has already applied with the FAA for the extension of the company’s Vantage Engine Production Certificate (PC) to include the Superior Aviation Beijing facility. Once that’s done, they can begin producing CAAC certified Vantage Engines for the Chinese market at their new Beijing engine build center.

In a news release Tuesday, Archer said that the CAAC validation came at the end of a detailed audit and evaluation process spanning five-days at Superior Air Part’s headquarters in Coppell, Texas. "The CAAC representatives were extremely professional, thorough and knowledgeable with regards to our certification efforts, quality control and production procedures,” he said. “They came here very well prepared. They demonstrated throughout the audit process that they understood we had a business to run and were respectful of that need.”

“The Chinese people are very excited about the future of general aviation in their country. There is a pent-up desire and growing need for smaller piston powered aircraft and helicopters to train pilots and serve small communities throughout the country,” Archer said. “Whether it is building new engines or providing aftermarket parts for repairs and overhauls, Superior Aviation Beijing and Superior Air Parts are both being positioned to take full advantage of all those opportunities as the become available.”
