Airbus A220 Full-Flight Simulator Opens in Rome

Flight Training Alliance Commences Training For ITA Airways

Flight Training Alliance (FTA) is a joint venture between Lufthansa Aviation Training and CAE.

FTA is also an Airbus Authorized Training Provider, and recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art 7000XR A220 Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) built by CAE.

The latest FFS will be located at the ITA Airways Flight Centre at Rome Fiumicino International Airport and is designed to replicate all the systems and flight characteristics of the Airbus A220.

The simulator is equipped with an immersive cockpit, high-fidelity visuals, and realistic flight dynamics. It will also be available to train other A220 customers of FTA to ensure they are thoroughly prepared to operate the aircraft safely and efficiently.

Gen. Francesco Presicce, Accountable Manager and Chief Technology Officer for ITA Airways said, "We are proud to collaborate with FTA for the integration of the state-of-the-art Airbus A220 FFS simulator into our Flight Center in Rome Fiumicino. For us, flight crew training is an essential element of our company's growth, and having a high-tech device like this simulator demonstrates that we are on the right path to delivering excellence. We have taken another step in our partnership with FTA, building on the solid collaboration started with the training of our pilots.”

Jesus Martin-Sanchez, Chief Operating Officer, FTA said, “We are thrilled to partner with ITA Airways to bring this advanced Airbus A220 FFS to Rome. The simulator will play a key role in ensuring the highest levels of training for ITA Airways pilots, contributing to the safety and efficiency of their operations and the growing need of our airline customers in Europe."
