David Scobey Named The New Chairman Of TBMOPA

Has Been A TBM Owner Since 2010

The TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBMOPA), which represents operators of Daher’s TBM very fast turboprop aircraft worldwide, has elected David Scobey as the association’s new chairman.

Scobey is a retired president and CEO of AT&T Southeast, and has been a passionate pilot since his college years. An owner of a TBM 850 since 2010 and a member of TBMOPA, he joined the association’s board of directors last year. “The Daher team looks forward to working with David in his new role as the TBMOPA chairman,” commented Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of the Daher Airplane Business Unit, and President of Daher Aircraft. “We recognize his commitment to flight safety, and we are convinced he will continue the excellent partnership established by his predecessors with Daher for the benefit of the TBM community of aviators.”

In addition to his relationship with TBMOPA, Scobey has volunteered for numerous charitable organizations, and currently serves as Board Chairman of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. “I look forward to representing the collective needs and interests of TBM operators,” Scobey commented. “I am blessed to own such a fine aircraft as my TBM 850. Climbing into the cockpit is a joy on each and every flight.”

In another transition at TBMOPA, Andrew Knott will retire as the association’s executive director at year-end, having held this post for 12 years. “Andrew has done a fantastic job for this organization and we wish him many happy hours of flying in retirement,” Scobey said.

The TBMOPA’s board named Misty Stanistreet as Knott’s successor. She has been the Daher Airplane Business Unit’s event manager for more than 10 years, and comes to the owners group with the advantage of knowing the TBM aircraft as well as its network of owners and operators.
