Larry Page Envisions The Airport Of The Future

Says Airplanes Are Efficient, Airports Are The Problem

As many in California dream of something called a Hyperloop train that would be designed to transport people from Los Angeles to San Francisco in about the time it takes Dominos to deliver a pizza ... Google co-founder Larry Page says that there is nothing wrong with flying between the two cities ... it's the getting on and off the airplane that makes flying inefficient and time-consuming.

Business Insider reports that Page (pictured in 2005 photo) would like to solve the problem of inefficient airports, though there are no concrete ideas about how such an airport might be built and operate.

Business Insider cites a report from another publication titled The Information. The author of that article, Amir Efrati, said that Page thinks that airports of the future can be far more efficient, but "it is not clear how Mr. Page would go about building such an airport."

Page has the airport issue on a long list of things on which Google is working, including self-driving cars, balloon-based internet access, and artificial intelligence. Efrati writes that it's all part of what Page calls "Google 2.0." which has about 100 employees working on major problems around the world.
