H2 Clipper Issued Patent for Airship Remote Piloting

Oh, the Humanity!

H2 Clipper, Inc., an aerospace and alternative energy company developing hydrogen-powered airships and hydrogen infrastructure, has announced it’s been granted US Patent 11,396,356 B2 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

The patent, entitled Method and Apparatus for Lighter-Than-Air Airship with Improved Structure and Delivery System, incorporates an evolved structural design for operating H2 Clipper’s Pipeline-in-the-Sky hydrogen-powered airships. Specifically, the patent addresses autonomous and remotely piloted operation of subject airships.

H2 Clipper Founder and CEO Rinaldo S. Brutoco states: “This latest patent brings us one step closer to bringing to market an economical and effective mode of transporting liquid hydrogen from places it can be generated using clean renewable energy directly to areas where high energy demand is most critical. Given the increased global demand for hydrogen and the recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act, which will help the US tackle climate change over the next decade, we believe now is the time for H2 Clipper to play a major role in removing the transportation bottleneck holding back the hydrogen economy.”

The new patent is H2 Clipper’s tenth, and improves upon airship designs and operating modes to which H2 Clipper engineers and technicians have been plying their expertise and experience since 2008, when the company filed for its first patent—which was issued in 2012. In addition to its previously issued patents, H2 Clipper has numerous, currently-pending US and international patent applications germane to airship design and pipeline distribution. H2 Clipper looks to complete construction of a prototype vessel in 2025, with the goal of flying its first full-sized airship in 2028.

H2 Clipper’s stated mission is to accelerate the hydrogen economy worldwide through the rapid, cost-efficient delivery of green hydrogen and other forms of freight; and provide a practical solution to “last-mile” delivery of pure hydrogen to end-users. The company’s leadership and employees envision a world operating on clean, sustainable and disruptively-efficient renewable energy.

Since its 2008 founding, H2 Clipper has sought to advance its mission and vision by making strategic investments in the research, development and patenting of core intellectual properties appurtenant to modern airship design and hydrogen economy infrastructure. The company’s airship-based Pipeline-in-the-Sky concept for transporting pure hydrogen to market and point-to-point delivery of cargo and other payloads at speeds of over 150-miles-per-hour is ambitious, if not clearly defined.
