FlightAware Releases Expanded Tracking Platform

Global For Helicopters Debuts

FlightAware has debuted Global for Helicopters, a new flight tracking platform developed for operators of helicopter or mixed rotary- and fixed-wing fleets.

Globally, upwards of 15,000 business aviation concerns are supported by FlightAware Global, the helicopter-optimized iteration of which affords managers of fixed- and rotary-wing fleets access to the full capabilities of Global, plus enhanced high-frequency Aireon space-based ADS-B tracking and defined custom airports for operations unique to rotary-wing aircraft.

FlightAware president Matt Davis stated: “Helicopters often operate out of remote areas and are fundamentally very different from fixed wing aircraft. This new capability represents an important expansion of FlightAware’s flight tracking technology. FlightAware Global helps users optimize operational efficiency, improve situational awareness, and keep stakeholders informed. Now those same benefits are available to helicopter operators all over the world.”

As a fleet management application, FlightAware Global provides owners, operators, and passengers of business aviation aircraft better comprehension of transpiring flights, to include accurate predictive ETAs, alerts, selective unblocking, and unparalleled data sources. The solution combines numerous data sources and tracking hardware with terrestrial ADS-B to provide complete tracking from take-off to landing.

FlightAware serves all segments of the aviation marketplace through best-in-class applications and data services that provide comprehensive information germane to the current and predicted movement of aircraft. Through the collection, interpretation, and enrichment of hundreds of sources of data, including data from FlightAware's own proprietary terrestrial ADS-B network—which comprises tens-of-thousands of receivers spanning seven continents in two-hundred countries and territories—FlightAware transforms millions of raw flight data elements and delivers them as coherent, easy-to-consume flight stories.
