area.
Northrop Grumman Corporation says it's received approval from
the Department of Homeland Security of its design of anti-missile
system aimed at safekeeping commercial aircraft. The Guardian
protection system is a Counter-Man Portable Air Defense System
(Counter-MANPADS) intended to protect commercial aircraft from
attack by ground-based, shoulder-fired missiles.
But Soon, Mechanics' Strike May Be The Least Of Its
Worries
Northwest Airlines was still flying Monday morning, the third
day of a massive mechanics' union strike. But with rising fuel
prices and the need for ongoing concessions from the other unions,

The Space Shuttle orbiter Discovery successfully landed at the

Cosmonaut Commanding ISS Breaks Record for Spaceflight
A Russian Cosmonaut quietly broke the all-time time-in-space
record, previously held by a countryman, last week. Sergei Krikalev

The US Air Force Thunderbirds decided to cancel their Sunday
appearance at the Chicago Air and Water Show after two of the
aircraft touched in the Saturday performance.

John Mailamo has bragging rights to it. Mailamo, a 57-year-old
pilot from San Diego (CA) emerged completely unscathed when the
Piper PA-18-105 Super Cub he was flying crashed onto the rocky
