Classic Aero-TV: More Than Just FAST--Klapmeier's Kestrel Starts Proving Itself

ANN Puts The Kestrel Through Its Paces After NBAA

The Aero-TV crews that produce ANN's industry-leading aero-video coverage LOVE Air-To-Air missions... as its not only a way to show an aircraft in its element... but also a means by which we can see an aircraft deal with the arduous tasks inherent in tight formation and the maneuvering required to get the gorgeous shots ANN viewers all over the world demand of us. It was also a great chance to talk to a pilot who has been piloting the Kestrel over the last few weeks as the bird is demoed all over the US in order to build support for this exciting program.

Kestrel Aircraft is a new company formed to complete the FAA certification and produce the Kestrel. The company will be led by CEO and Chairman Alan Klapmeier and other seasoned professionals with broad aviation and business experience. Alan has a rich and distinguished background in aviation.

In 1984, he founded Cirrus Design and until recently, led the company which manufactured the largest selling piston aircraft in the world. He resigned from the company in 2009 to pursue other aircraft development ventures.

The Kestrel management team says its turboprop will carry more while flying further and faster, into and out of shorter runways. These benefits come from advanced aerodynamics and composite construction. The management team says it will position the new Kestrel to bridge the traditional gap between turboprops and substantially more expensive business jets.

Klapmeier calls the Kestrel, “an elegant solution for personal and business transportation that will redefine its class, while being economical and easy to operate.” Join Aero-TV for a REALLY close look at the Kestrel inflight and a frank talk about how the bird is behaving throughout the rigors of its introduction to the US market.
