Embraer Selects Eaton As Key Supplier On New Jet Program

Will Furnish Four Systems On Upcoming Legacy 450, 500

Eaton Corporation was recently selected by Embraer to supply four systems on the Legacy 450 "mid-light" and Legacy 500 midsize business jets. The packages include the nose wheel steering system, landing gear control and indication system, landing gear extension and retraction system, and the hydraulic system control module.

The total package represents $100 million in revenue over the life of the program.

The Legacy 450 is being designed for a range of 2,300 nautical miles with four passengers, or 2,200 nautical miles with eight passengers, including National Business Aviation Association – Instrumentation Flight Rules (NBAA IFR) reserves. The Legacy 500 is designed for a range of 3,000 nautical miles with four passengers, or 2,800 nautical miles with eight passengers, including NBAA IFR reserves.

Embraer says both the Legacy 450 and the Legacy 500 will have the highest cruising speeds in their classes (Mach 0.78 and Mach 0.80, respectively), with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.83. Both aircraft will also feature a reduced time-to-climb to high altitudes and provide excellent field performance.

Eaton is a leading supplier of hydraulic, electro-hydraulic pump and generator products and integrated systems; engine and airframe fuel pumps; electric motors; aircraft door actuation, flight and flow controls; fluid, fuel and air delivery products and systems; nose wheel steering systems; integrated control systems; cockpit controls and displays; power and load management systems; pressure sensors, seals, and fluid health monitoring products and systems.

Eaton serves commercial and military aviation, aerospace, military ground systems, marine and off-road markets worldwide.
