The mid-air collision was confirmed by Air Force Captain Justin Brockhoff. "The C-130 received light damage during the incident and the aircrew was unharmed," he said.

USA Today reports that, according to military officials, the UAV was flying a surveillance mission and was unarmed. Brockhoff said there were no injuries reported on the ground following the accident. The C-130 is attached to the 914th Airlift Wing based in Niagara Falls, NY.

The MQ-9 Shadow UAS is normally operated by either the Army or the Marine Corps. The incident is under investigation.
