US Airways Discussing neo With Airbus?

Early Talks Could Lead To Replacement Of Older 757s

There are reportedly talks underway between US Airways and Airbus about the possibility of replacing some of its older Boeing 757s with one f the newest offerings in the Airbus line ... the A321neo.

Bloomberg News reports that US Airways would only confirm that the airline is in "informational" discussions with the European planemaker. While no new orders are apparently imminent, analysts say the nations' smallest major full-fare carrier will eventually be forced to replace the 757 fleet. The last of the planes was built by Boeing in 2004.

US Airways flies the 757 on some international routes, including to Dublin, Ireland. Still, both parties are playing the talks close to the vest. US Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher said in an e-mail "we talk to aircraft manufacturers all the time." Airbus reportedly had no comment, other than to say US Airways is a "good customer."
