Twice Daily Commuter Flights Between Manhattan And Westchester County

Blade Urban Air Mobility, a division of Joby Aviation, announced it will roll out a pilot commuter flight program between Manhattan and Westchester County Airport, beginning in December.

The urban commuter flights will provide service to residents of the New York City suburbs of Greenwich, Scarsdale, Rye, Bedford, and others that will shorten rush hour commutes from more than an hour and a half to twelve minutes.

Rob Wiesenthal, CEO of Blade said, “With the return of five day work weeks and traffic between the Greater New York City Suburbs and Manhattan now exceeding pre-pandemic levels, it was time for Blade to service this demand.”

Twice-daily flights, morning and evening, will begin on Monday, December 1, 2025. Seats will cost between $125 per passenger (with a Blade Commuter Pass) to $225.

Blade will initially use helicopters for the service, and then transition to Joby’s quiet, zero-emission aircraft after the air taxi has been certified for commercial operations by the FAA. The pilot program will provide valuable feedback for Joby regarding operational logistics and flier experiences. Those will help the company accelerate and reduce risks for Joby’s commercialization endeavor.

A preview of the service will be made available on Friday, November 28 – Black Friday – in conjunction with the Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards to provide a unique holiday shopping experience in the new heart of Manhattan.

Wiesenthal added, “While Blade has proven the viability of airport routes in the U.S. and Europe, commuter routes will become even more important as new landing zones, exclusive to electric aircraft, become available.”
