Bombardier Appoints Sales VPs In Three Key Areas

One Will Work With Aircraft Leasing Companies, The Others Will Represent Growth Regions

Bombardier Aerospace has tapped Three sales VPs with an eye towards aircraft leasing companies as well as the Asia-Pacific and mid-east regions.

Stephen Young (pictured) has been named to the position of Vice President, Sales, Aircraft Leasing Companies, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, reporting to Rod Sheridan, Vice President, Customer Finance, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. Mr. Young's promotion comes less than a year after his appointment to the position of Senior Director, Sales, Aircraft Leasing Companies for Bombardier Commercial Aircraft with the goal of expanding Bombardier's reach within aircraft leasing channels.

"As the world's economies gradually return to economic health, aircraft leasing companies are playing a vital role for operators and airlines looking for creative and flexible ways to build their fleets and meet their business plans," said Chet Fuller, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. "Steve's tremendous depth of experience with the leasing community and dedicated years as a Bombardier sales director in the North American market make him the ideal candidate to lead our initiatives within the rapidly developing network of worldwide leasing companies."

"Looking forward, we are forecasting that the aircraft leasing community will represent approximately one third of our sales activities. Aircraft leasing companies offer financing, marketing and operational flexibility, particularly for low-cost, smaller and start-up airlines," said Mr. Young. "We recognize their importance for opening new markets and introducing our Q400 NextGen aircraft, the CRJ NextGen family of aircraft and the all-new CSeries jetliner to operators around the world."

Torbjorn (Toby) Karlsson has been named the Vice President, Sales, Asia-Pacific, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. Reporting to Chet Fuller, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft, Mr. Karlsson heads the sales team that covers the entire Asia-Pacific region except China, Japan, and South Korea. "As part of our mandate to expand our global reach and regional sales presence, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Karlsson as we look to increase our proximity to customers in the Asia-Pacific region," said Mr. Fuller. "The placement of a local sales team in the region is a key strategic Commercial Aircraft business objective that will further open new markets for our optimized family of aircraft.

"The economic growth of this part of the world is expected to outpace the rest of the world over the next 20 years and Mr. Karlsson is ideally suited to lead our sales initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region. We are confident that his extensive experience and leadership attributes will further position us to serve our customers successfully," added Mr. Fuller.

And, Raphael Haddad (pictured) has been promoted to the position of Vice President, Sales, Middle East and Africa, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. With over 15 years at Bombardier, Mr. Haddad, who previously served as the Senior Director, Sales, for the Middle East and North Africa, will continue to report to Chet Fuller, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.

“The Middle East and Africa are key markets as Bombardier Commercial Aircraft positions its products and services in an expanding worldwide network,” said Mr. Fuller. “Raphael’s track record of success in strategic sales and marketing of Bombardier’s family of aircraft products, along with his strong relationships with the airlines in the region, make him an ideal choice to assume leadership of this expanded region.”

“Bombardier forecasts that while starting from a small base, the Middle East and Africa will capture nearly 1,000 deliveries in the 20- to 149-seat market segment over the next 20 years,” said Mr. Haddad. “Our portfolio of optimized Q400 NextGen, CRJ NextGen and all-new CSeries aircraft is well suited to meet the region’s requirements and I am honored to lead our Commercial Aircraft sales initiatives, while strengthening our customer relationships in the region.”
