"Just because you have a better airport doesn't mean those companies will relocate to Blaine. But if it doesn't have an airport, they definitely won't."

Source: Blaine, WA Airport Commission Chairman Doug Fenton, commenting on the proposal before voters in November to consider closing the town's small single-strip airport. The field is currently in line to receive funding from the FAA for expansion, which airport supporters say might bring additional businesses and revenue to the town near the Canadian border. Opponents say the land could be better used for industrial development... including, perhaps, a truck stop.
