AD: Airbus Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2018-01-11

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus Model A319-115 and A319-133 airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule; request for comments.

SUMMARY: This AD requires contacting the FAA to obtain instructions for addressing the unsafe condition on these products, and doing the actions specified in those instructions.

This AD was prompted by a fire during a flight, in the vicinity of the gaseous oxygen system (GOS) for passengers.

DATES: This AD becomes effective January 29, 2018. Comments on this AD must be received by February 26, 2018.

COST: Currently, there are no affected U.S.-registered airplanes.  Should an affected airplane be placed on the U.S. register in the future, the FAA estimates that the cost of Passenger GOS modification would be up to $33,587 per aircraft for parts and labor. Placard modification is estimated to cost $425 per aircraft, and pressure hose modification is estimated to cost up to $10,370 for parts and labor.
