PS Engineering Announces Satellite Radio for the PXE7300

PS Engineering is bringing satellite radio entertainment to general aviation with an upgrade to their PXE7300.  PS Engineering's latest low cost add-on to an already capable IFE, makes yet another stride in making audio control more affordable.

The PXE7300-SR will add the option of satellite radio coverage across the continental United States, with up to 100 channels of entertainment, news, and sports. The satellite module is a remote mounted box that is controlled by the PXE7300 panel unit.

"Since we introduced the PXE7300 last year, we have had many requests for a satellite system," said President Mark Scheuer, "The PXE7300 platform gives us the user and hardware interface that will provides us access to the new satellite technology. It will also help us to gain a quick turn to market with an FAA certified system.

"Satellite based radio is ideal for general aviation, because the same stations are available anywhere in the country. The programming variety is extraordinary, and you'll never lose a channel as you fly along your route."

PS Engineering applied their experience and knowledge of how the general aviation pilot will use their in-flight entertainment system, to design a user-friendly interface for the PXE7300. "The user interface is simple, "says vice president of engineering, Steve Hudson, "we've maximized the utility and eliminated distractions. The PXE7300-SR is a seamlessly integrated into the aircraft audio system. List price of the PXE7300-SR option is $899, which includes the satellite radio receiver and portable antenna. The standard price of the PXE7300 is $1495, making the system cost of $2,395. The PXE7300-SR will the provide AM/FM/CD/MP3/MP3Pro/Satellite Radio.

Existing PXE7300 systems can be upgraded for a modest upgrade fee, plus $899 for the SR unit. Subscriptions are as low as $6.95 per month, if the customer already has a subscription for a household or automotive unit, $9.95 if the PXE7300-SRR is the only unit. Deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2003. This installation is an amendment to the existing STC certification.

"We're excited to add yet another dimension to the already very capable PXE7300, now the pilot will have affordable access to the latest technologies of both radio and playable medium."
